Attendance Policy
1. Minimum Requirement
- Students must maintain 100% attendance.
- A minimum of 75% attendance in every subject is mandatory to be eligible to appear for end-semester examinations.
2. Leave Rules
- Leave may be availed only under unavoidable circumstances.
- Students must apply for leave in the prescribed form before proceeding on leave.
- The leave application must be recommended by the Faculty Advisor and submitted to the Director of the Centre for consideration and approval.
- Unauthorized absence will be treated as disciplinary misconduct.
- For non-medical leave exceeding three consecutive days, the application must be countersigned by the parent/guardian or the Warden, as applicable.
3. Medical Leave
- For medical leave exceeding three consecutive days, a medical certificate from a registered medical practitioner (with registration number) must be submitted, along with supporting documents such as in-patient records.
- The medical leave application must be submitted to the Class Advisor on the day of return after the period of absence.
- Medical leave does not automatically grant attendance exemption. The minimum 75% attendance rule applies unless specifically condoned.
4. Official Duty (OD) Leave
Students are eligible for Official Duty (OD) Leave when participating in the following:
- National / International academic competitions
- Sports and cultural events, including those conducted within the University, and institution-wide activities such as Anokha, Gokulashtami, Amritotsavam, etc.
- Club activities officially recognized by the institution
- Seminars and conferences prescribed by the University or those approved in advance by the Director – TIFAC-CORE
- Training, workshops, or participation related to the above activities
5. Conditions for OD Leave
- OD leave must be applied for in advance before attending the event.
- Students must submit valid proof/certificates of participation for OD approval and for attendance to be updated in the MyAmrita portal.
- For internships arranged by students on their own, prior approval from the Director – TIFAC-CORE is mandatory.
- The Internship Completion Certificate must be submitted at the end of the internship.
- Only 8 ODs per course per semester are permitted, as per the circular from the Dean – Academics.
Note
- The OD form must be submitted before the event; however, it will be sanctioned only after submission of participation proof.
- Late submission of leave or OD applications beyond the notified time limit will not be entertained.
